" Dix cordes pour un Carmina Burana"
As created and arranged by Pierre Pesnon
Why did I write “dis-chord” on my home page? Well, when I finalized my application of the fingerstyle technique to the 10-string steel, I was confronted to a major problem. In France, like everywhere else (maybe) innovations are looked down upon, particularly if they dare infringe on the intimist world of the guitar. So my first appearances in masterclasses with this “revolutionary” guitar proved severely punishing for me.
Issoudun: the catastrophe: a room packed… with guitarists of all kinds, and not the least! This
paragraph from my novelized autobiography “Two Metros Late” will tell you more about it.
From “Atout Samedi,” a Normandy Television program.
At that time the support I received from Jean-Pierre Favino was decisive. Retrospectively I can see that this master, in making this unique guitar, had achieved an unequalled quality of sound. And he knew that I was capable of going further. The release of “Voyagissime” demonstrated how right he had been. In this album I lined up no less than 4 titles played on this instrument, including Carl Orff’s famous Carmina Burana.
Soon I will record two sacred pieces: Ravel’s “Boléro” and the four movements of Domeniconi’s “Koyunbaba.”
