“I burned my hand on folding irons in my father’s workshop when I was 4, which was my first contact with guitar-making. At 13, understandably enough I received a classical guitar for Christmas. ‘Here! this is the one you wanted. By the way, your first lesson with Mr Garcia is Saturday… If you take up my work one day, you will thank me.’ I still do.”

John Engel is a writer. He has just published a beautiful book (+CD) on left-handed guitarists. Among others Pierre Pesnon is honored, as representative of France.
john Lee Hooher, John Engel
John Engel, talented guitarist himself and bachelor of arts, lives in Belgium, and is also an undisputed master of film-making, his other passion. The quality of his scripts soon led him to work as a a producer and co-producer for such stars as Brian De Palma, Tim Burton, Neil Jordan, Martin Campbell, Larry Franco, the Taviani brothers…
After an early career in the U.S.A., back to France Michel became a pathfinder of fingerstyle guitar. A master of the 12-string, he has made it his concert instrument. The U.S.A., India, Hungary, Italy, Belgium, Germany, France have paid well-deserved tribute to his talent.
I remember: I was about 15 when I first met Michel. What a shock! Hadn’t it been for him, I certainly wouldn’t be here now, writing. Long before Marcel Dadi, Michel paved the way for my present style.

Guitarists’ Treasure Troves
A French teacher, Jacques Mottier discovered the guitar in the 60’s. He started college to the sounds of The Shadows and The Spotnicks, and the revelation of classical guitar came along.
Soon he “branched off” to fingerstyle and Dadi’s music. He happened to come across my first album “Guitare dans la tête” in what he calls a laudatory article in a guitar magazine. Enthusiastically he bought “Voyagissime” and decided to offer me a full page on his site.
For Jacques “Le
K@léidoscope” is a ragbag of texts, of images, guitars, literatures, imagination builders (see Facteur Cheval), detective stories stories mimicking classics… In a nutshell this altruistic site is the gateway to Jacques’ infinite passion for the prolific world of culture.
A must for all music fans. Very clearly, click after click, light is shed on issues about chords, harmonies, tones… This site takes up a real challenge in rediscovering the simple games of musical architecture… and giving us real fun. By supporting this essentially generous site distinguished artists and partners have highlighted its outstanding excellence. Considering the humbleness of the author of this tita nic project, one cannot but feel truly modest and small.
